As a Marketer, if you try to appeal to everyone, chances are that you end up appealing to no-one.

But if you appeal to a few people, chances are that, with time, you will appeal to a lot of people.

However, if you start by wanting to appeal to everyone, you will most likely fail.

If there are no early adopters of your brand, there would be no Mass Market.

So many Entrepreneurs, Creators, Solopreneurs, artists, etc. start with the intent of reaching out to the mass market. Not that I judge them, it is understandable. It is in our DNA to want to keep everyone happy.

But like I said, if you try to appeal to everyone, chances are that you end up appealing to no-one.

The key here is to start with being narrow. Reach out to those early adopters who talk about you. Give them a story to tell.

If it works out, there will come a phase when you need to cross the chasm and shift to mass market. But remember, it always starts with a small group of people.

What is your tribe? Who are your early adopters? Where can you find them? How can you reach them? How can you tell them a story that they would want to share?
