Years back, when I was freelancing, I presented a ppt to a prospect. I started talking about his business from slide 7.

Slides 1 to 6? They were all about me – My marketing philosophies, my credibility, my writing samples, etc.

His expressions till slide 6 – “Ummm, okay, what do I do with this information?”

His expression after slide 6 – “Now we are talking! Good stuff!”

That one sales call taught me more than any other resource I have consumed.

Start with the audience’s problem. Showcase your big idea. And then, when the time is right, make it about yourself.
