Believe in principles, not formulas.

Breaks my heart to see Creators, Coaches, and Freelancers depending on formulas for writing. I understand – formulas give us certainty in the writing process. There are exact instructions to follow and little room for error.

After you are done, though, your writing looks like the reading manual of a juicer you purchased from Walmart. It’s like the Dementors of Harry Potter came and sucked away all the happiness from your writing.

A better way? Learn principles.

  • Get attention with counter-intuitive ideas
  • Create tension
  • Introduce drama
  • Open and close loops… and so on.

Principles give us a rough sketch – now it’s your responsibility to fill it with colors. Colors that emerge from our own minds, hearts, and souls.
