Some time ago, I made a choice that lifted a heavy burden off my shoulders.
For a brief time, I was writing on Linkedin with the expectation of building an audience. I found myself researching attractive hooks, obsessing over the time to post, and checking if my post was resonating with the audience.
All of this was making me unhappy.
I made two changes.
One – I shifted my focus to emails. Email is a much more intimate channel for communication and helped me connect with the subscribers in a more humane, meaningful way.
Two – I optimized my Linkedin for ‘thinking out aloud’. My LinkedIn is me pondering and learning in public, wrestling with difficult questions, and documenting my journey in public.
It’s probably not a great strategy to go viral or build an audience.
But it’s an excellent strategy to keep me happy. For now, I feel energized.
