I have been helping a few clients with their social media content lately, so I thought I would take a moment to debrief and share what is working for them. But before we dive in, take everything here with a pinch of salt. You do not want to blindly pick a tactic without considering your context. What works for me might not work for you. With that out of the way, let us get into some observations: 1. Images > Videos Videos are not bad. But the logistics of creating them can be overwhelming. Post images are easier to create and they get great results. 2. Stories > Ideas Don’t just tell people your idea. Wrap it in a short, relatable story that shows your idea in action. Don’t tell us your software helps recruiters. Tell us a story about Jake from HR whose life got better with your software. 3. Aggressive hooks do not work Clickbait hooks might grab attention but rarely lead to genuine engagement. Using wholesome hooks is a much better strategy and leads to genuine interaction with your audience. 4. Asking others to comment may work A simple prompt like “If you are interested in this, comment ‘Star’ and I will DM you the link” can sometimes be effective. 5. Opinionated content works. Controversial does not. Sharing strong opinions helps you stand out and build trust with your audience. But avoid creating controversy for the sake of attention. 6. DMs build the best relationships. Comments are great, but meaningful conversations often happen in the DMs. Do not be afraid to have a private conversation. 7. Long-form > Short-form While short-form content is quick to consume, long-form content performs better. It resonates deeply, keeps your audience engaged longer, and gives you room to showcase your expertise. |
