I read this person’s LinkedIn post and said – “Dude, you don’t sound like that in real life!”
Many of us have a distinct personality when it comes to talking. When we write, however, we try to fit in. Instead of expressing ourselves, we comply. We try to fit in like a Lego brick.
How do we overcome this?
Few easy ways –
1. Write every day. Finding your voice is a journey and takes time
2. Be aware of your emotions. Are you publishing this because you want to fit in? Or do you genuinely believe in what you are saying?
3. Use your quirks – Maybe sarcasm is your thing. Maybe your writing is all about emotions. Maybe you love silly humor.
4. After you are done writing, read the post aloud – as if you are talking to a friend. Does that sound like you?
