The Science is just a package wrapped around the main message. Sure, the space travel is amazing. Sure, getting into the black hole is mind-boggling and captivates us. But the real transformation? It’s not about space travel, saving the human race or solving a complex Mathematical equation. The real transformation is the change that the protagonist, Cooper, goes through. How does Cooper change? We will get to that in a minute. Each story changes the protagonist.
The same applies to the Business and Marketing stories that experts tell. The stories are meant to change our audience’s misbeliefs.
Our story does that. So the question is – What does your audience believe, that needs to change? What is that one thing that is causing them more harm than good? How can you change them? Like how Cooper changed. At the start of the movie, Cooper believes that science is the answer to all the questions. “Ghosts don’t exist,” he tells his daughter. That’s his mis-belief. That is where he is wrong. At the end of the movie, he realizes that ‘Love’ is the answer. |
